ACTIVITY AND LEISURE CENTER IN PARIS

A third year project

 

This neighborhood facilities project is situated in the northeastern part of Paris on a sloping plot of land between two streets. The uppermost street is larger, with a more public atmosphere and easily accessible from main-streets. Therefore, the entrance of the building with the hall and the reception is situated along this street, as well as the spaces for rather general or public functions, such as a cafeteria, exhibition rooms, a multifunctional hall and offices. The lower street has a more peaceful and private ambience. Thus, the spaces for specific activities - dancing, art and music studios - and the terrace are situated on that side.

 

The entrance hall of the facilities is a void inside the building, a transition between the street and interior spaces. Taking advantage of the slope, this void becomes a belvedere that offers a view on the terrace, the vaulted roof of the dancing studio and the neighborhood behind this building.
