AN ECODISTRICT ON THE HISTORICAL SITE OF THE PEACH-WALLS

URBAN PROJECT
COLLECTIVE HOUSING
A third year project

This project of an ecodistrict is situated in the zone of the historical grid of the peach-walls (murs à pêches) on eastern outskirts of Paris. Our group decided to highlight the existing particularities of the site by keeping the remaining peach-walls and islands of vegetation that would alternate with constructed zones. Among the greenery and housing projects, different facilities are located. On each of the three angles of the site, a square with a different public building is designed, as a threshold where the ecodistrict communicates with the city.

My personal work, in continuation with this group project, consisted in the design of a group of five housing blocks. The ground floors are used as commercial space along the future tramline, as workshops and cafés along the more intimate street on the southern side of the ecodistrict, and as associative locales inside the neighborhood.

Housing units have three orientations to make the most of the natural environment of the site. The serving parts of apartments are situated in a strip along the lateral wall in which the entrance is situated. The rest of the apartment is divided into two parts - bedrooms in the north and living room in the south. The living area can be completely open to form continuity with the terrace.
